Microfranchise e Background in São Paulo City

The microfranchising model is new within the franchise system, its main characteristic is the low initial investment. Currently, the model has stood out in the Brazilian market, within the emerging class, which seeks to have its own business. A growing number of people are choosing to use financial resources to run a business, whose brand and management structure are ready. So the objective of this paper was to identify microfranchisees background in order to examine their background and expectations. Through a study of six cases, interviews were conducted within the microfranchisees of metropolitan São Paulo in the cosmetic, tourism, sport and education areas, to survey evidence. The results showed that the microfranchisees opted for microfranchising due to low investment, family income supplement and family entrepreneurship references, but they didn't have knowledge in management. The study concluded that formal education in management and skills microfranchisees are necessary for business success.
